Movie series "Property in view"

On November 18, we will show the anime film Princess Mononoke (J 1997).

About our series

Once a month during the semester, our series brings the debate on property issues to the big screen. We show a filmic treatment of conflicts over property, current dynamics of change and possible alternatives. A member of our Collaborative Research Center will give a brief introduction to the film at the beginning of the evening and shed light on the connections between the film and our property research. The film will be followed by a discussion with anyone from the audience who is interested. The films are usually shown in the original language with subtitles.

About the movie

Prince Ashitaka is afflicted with a life-threatening curse. In search of a cure, he becomes embroiled in the battle between San, the defender of the forest, and Eboshi, the defender of an ironworks. Eboshi profits at the expense of nature and even wants to destroy the forest and its nature god. If Ashitaka does not find a cure, he will not live much longer, and the battle between nature and man-made industry seems to be heading toward a disastrous end.

The film will be introduced by Nadia Abd El Hafez, Sociologist at the Technical University of Darmstadt, in the field of General and Theoretical Sociology.
