Prof. Dr. Ute Tellmann

Ute Tellmann ist seit April 2019 Professorin für Allgemeine Soziologie/Soziologische Theorie an der TU Darmstadt. Zuvor war sie Professorin für Politische Soziologie an der Universität Erfurt/Max-Weber-Kolleg. In Berlin, Bielefeld, Toronto (Canada) und an der Cornell University (USA) hat sie Soziologie und politische Theorie studiert. Nach Abschluss der Promotion an der Cornell University hat sie an der Universität Basel und der Universität Hamburg im Arbeitsbereich Allgemeine Soziologie gelehrt.

Sie interessiert sich für kultursoziologische und historische Perspektiven, die die enge Verbindung der soziologischen Disziplin mit der Geschichte des politischen Denkens, der Geographie, Anthropologie und Philosophie hervorheben. Eine enge Verzahnung mit Wissensgeschichte und exemplarischen Fallanalysen zeichnet ihre Art der Theoriebildung aus.
