Jana Ilnicka studied Classical Philology and Ukrainian Philology at Taras Shevchenko University in Kyiv, where she obtained an MA in Classical Philology and a PhD in Ukrainian Linguistics. She studied (Thomistic) Philosophy and Theology at the Pontificia Universitas Sancti Thomae de Aquino in Urbe ('Angelicum'). Her doctorate was then completed at the Max-Weber-Kolleg (University of Erfurt).
Her academic interests lie in the field of medieval scholasticism (in particular Thomas Aquinas and Meister Eckhart).
