Philipp Köncke studied Economics at the University of Rostock and received his PhD from the University of Erfurt in 2026 with the dissertation “The Political Economy of China’s Rise: Party-State Capitalism, Internationalization Strategies and Geoeconomic Tensions”. His work is situated at the intersection of comparative and international political economy, with a focus on Chinese capitalism and its internationalization, geoeconomic conflicts between the United States, Europe, and China, and the political economy of decarbonization.
He works as a postdoctoral researcher in project B08: “Property Conflicts and State Responses to the Internationalization of Chinese Firms in the United States and the European Union”.
