Movie series "Property in view"
About our series
Once a month during the semester, our series brings the debate on property issues to the big screen. We show a filmic treatment of conflicts over property, current dynamics of change and possible alternatives. A member of our Collaborative Research Center will give a brief introduction to the film at the beginning of the evening and shed light on the connections between the film and our property research. The film will be followed by a discussion with anyone from the audience who is interested. The films are usually shown in the original language with subtitles.
About the movie
Berlin, on the eve of fascism: Marked by unemployment and social hardship, father Bönike, his wife, daughter Anni, and her boyfriend Fritz move to the “Kuhle Wampe” garden colony. While her parents accept the circumstances, Anni begins to get involved in the communist youth movement and demands social change. A classic of proletarian cinema, based on a screenplay by Bertolt Brecht and Ernst Ottwalt.
The film will be introduced by Christoph Henning, philosopher at the University of Humanistic Studies Utrecht in the field of Bereich philosophy and humanism.
