Dr. Jonathan Rinne

Jonathan Rinne is a post-doctoral researcher in subproject B04 "Economic Property and Political (In-)Equality. An analysis based on an elite theory approach". After receiving his diploma degree (MA equivalent) in political science at the Goethe University Frankfurt/Main, Mr. Rinne worked at the same university from 2014-2020 as a research assistant at the research unit "Democratic Innovations" (director: Prof. Dr. Brigitte Geißel). He spent research stays inter alia at Åbo Akademi in Turku (Finland) and Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. In 2021, Jonathan Rinne defended his doctoral thesis, which focuses on evaluating democratic reforms, at the Goethe University Frankfurt/Main (summa cum laude distinction).

His research focuses on theories of democracy (esp. systems theory), political representation, political participation, democratic reforms, and (survey) experiments.

Research Project

Innerhalb des Projekts liegt Jonathan Rinnes Forschungsinteresse insbesondere auf der Weiterentwicklung unseres Verständnisses von demokratischer Repräsentation. Dabei wird er unter anderem die empirischen Einsichten im Rahmen des Projekts nutzten, um die Vielschichtigkeit von Repräsentation in Demokratien herauszuarbeiten.
