Nadia Abd El Hafez

Nadia Abd El Hafez has been a doctoral candidate at the Chair of Sociological Theory at the Technical University of Darmstadt since May 2025. In the CRC “Structural Change of Property”, she deals with the ecological limits of property. To this end, she is researching concrete developments and conflicts surrounding water security and financialization and is investigating the question of which ‘water economies’ are currently being shaped by and for whom.

She previously studied sociology in Hamburg, Frankfurt am Main and Marseille and completed her studies with a thesis on ‘ecological resistance’, which she conceptualized using the example of southern Lebanon. During her studies, she worked as a student assistant at Goethe University Frankfurt since 2022, focusing on ‘Social Inequality’ and ‘Biotechnology, Nature and Society’; she also supported the graduate program ‘Fixing Futures’.

Her research interests lie in the fields of feminist epistemologies, the sociology of natural relations and the Anthropocene, resistance studies and global social inequalities.
