Walid Ibrahim studied sociology and philosophy at the University of Potsdam, and graduated from the Masters Program in Sociology at Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 2018. His research interests include topics in digitalization research, critical capitalism analysis, and infrastructure research. In the dissertation project, the role of telecommunications infrastructure (mobile communications) is analyzed in the light of current economic, political, and technological developments with the help of a synthesis of capitalism research and science and technology studies. Since 2020, he has been a research associate at the Department of Labor, Economic and Industrial Sociology under Klaus Dörre, where he also teaches. He is also a member of the Center for Emancipatory Technology Studies.
