Dr. Denys Gorbach holds a PhD from Sciences Po Paris, where he did politico-economic ethnography of the working class in contemporary Ukraine. This research is summed up in his first monograph, The Making and Unmaking of the Ukrainian Working Class: Everyday Politics and Moral Economy in a Post-Soviet City, published by Berghahn Books in 2024. He keeps studying Ukrainian political and moral economy ethnographically: he is notably interested in the ongoing dynamics of political identities and politicisation, as well as the change of property regimes. His other research project has been focused on Ukrainian war migrants in France, their survival strategies and shifting political attitudes. Currently, he is a part of ERC CONSPIRATIONS project, where he focuses on suspicion and political knowledge production in Belgium.
