Film series “Property in View”

Who owns what and why? Property is omnipresent and yet often lost sight of in its complexity. “Property in View” is a film series of the SFB 294 “Structural Change of Property” that brings this complexity to the screen.

Sorry we missed you, GB/F/B 2019, Introduction by Steffen Liebig.

The Film Series

Who owns what and why? Property is omnipresent and yet often lost sight of in its complexity. What does it mean when a few inherit a lot and many inherit nothing? When private investors become owners of nursing homes and sharing economies promise new profits? When it is unclear who owns the data? When home ownership becomes an object of speculation and new movements fight for common property?

Property in View' is a series of films by the Collaborative Research Centre SFB 294 'Structural Change of Property' that brings these complexities to the screen. The selection of films commented on by SFB researchers focuses on conflicts over property, current dynamics of change and possible alternatives to property-based orders.

The film series is a cooperation project with the Kino am Markt in Jena, which is also responsible for the distribution of tickets. The movies will be shown in English, with German subtitles. Each introduction will be in German.

When Ricky becomes a self-employed courier driver, the tide seems to turn. But the price of Ricky's self-employment turns out to be much higher than expected. The true costs of the constant availability of goods and the privatization of basic needs become apparent.
