Robin K. Saalfeld and Sylka Scholz have published a new article entitled “Wer das Geld hat, hat die Macht? Verhandlungen von Property Gaps in Paarwelten.” has been published. This contribution is part of the volume “Polarisierte Welten”, which contains all contributions to the negotiations of the 41st Congress of the German Sociological Association in Bielefeld 2022.

New publication

Tilo Wesche has published a new book “Die Rechte der Natur. Vom nachhaltigen Eigentum” with Suhrkamp Verlag. Nature is increasingly being granted its own rights by parliaments, governments and courts worldwide. What is the truth about the rights of nature? Can this legal practice contribute to overcoming climate change? How can such rights be justified? And how can they be applied? Tilo Wesche deals with these and other questions.

A book launch is being planned.

A new article by Bettina Hollstein and Hartmut Rosa has been published in the Journal of Business Ethics. In “Social Acceleration: A Challenge for Companies? Insights for Business Ethics from Resonance Theory” there is an attempt articulate conceptually the normative requirements for a business ethics which are capable of dealing with the problems of social acceleration in corporations with a particular focus on a resonant stakeholder approach.

Solomon Benjamin as guest at SFB

The SFB welcomes Solomon Benjamin to his Mercator Fellowship. In the next few days, two events will take place as part of this fellowship. On 13 June, a methods workshop will be held with him (in Erfurt) and on 20 June, a Brown Bag Lecture (in Jena) will be held with him. Furthermore, he will participate in the colloquium programme in the coming weeks.

The first volume of the SFB series has been published by Campus Verlag. Jan Dirk Harke traces in “Pflicht und Freiheit des Erblassers. Pflichtteil und Wahnsinnsfiktion im klassischen römischen Erbrecht” how the right to a compulsory share asserted itself against an initially unlimited freedom to make a will in Roman property law.

Carsten Herrmann-Pillath has published a guest article in the Frankfurter Rundschau on “Nutzen wir die Freiheit”. He argues that a productivity boost through AI opens up the opportunity to realise an unconditional basic income for all.

Gunnar Folke Schuppert has published an essay in Archiv des öffentlichen Rechts Jahrgang 147 (2022) entitled “Wandel des Eigentums. Zu seiner Verortung im Dreieck von Struktur-, Funktions- und Auffassungswandel des Eigentums”. The essay is available online in the campus network.

New publication

Florian Peters has published a new book “Von Solidarność zur Schocktherapie. Wie der Kapitalismus nach Polen kam”. It was published by Ch. Links Verlag and deals with how new markets were opened up in Poland in the 1980s, how opposition trade union activists oriented themselves new and how communist functionaries discovered private property for themselves.

Cecilia Rikap as guest at SFB

The SFB welcomes Cecilia Rikap for her Fellowship. In the next few days, two events will take place within the framework of this fellowship. On 02 May a training workshop will take place with her and on 05 May she will give a guest lecture. She will also participate in the colloquium programme this week.

Participation of SFB researchers in the Nucleus Jena project

Bettina Hollstein and Jörg Oberthür are involved in a sub-project of the “Nucleus Jena Transfer. Regional.Nachhaltig.” and are researching sharing concepts and the transfer of knowledge and ideas in relation to sustainability. The focus here is on the cooperation of entrepreneurial, social and university actors.
